Our story

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us! We're Dennisse and Luis, a couple of siblings who in 2019 decided to open this small crafts store named "Casa Paz" in honor of our family name. Along this path, we never imagined this would lead us to meet such beautiful and talented people, who during all these years have taught us the value of their work.

LETICIA BLANCO

Meet Lety, originally from Atzompa. She and her family have dedicated their entire lives to traditional clay crafts with embroidered flowers. Their most representative figures are the mermaids, Day of the Dead skulls, and Mexican virgins such as La Soledad, Juquila, or Guadalupe.

MANUELA VÁSQUEZ

She is Manuela, an artisan from Atzompa and one of the pioneers in making the traditional clay "filigrana" crafts. Her technique has been passed from generation to generation, and nowadays is considered one of the most beautiful crafts in Oaxaca. She and her family create crafts so detailed that are considered works of art.

LIZETH VELASCO

Lizeth learned the technique of clay filigree in Atzompa, and today she is completely dedicated to it. Thanks to the support of her family and together with her husband Jose Manuel, they have been innovating in designs and products. Creating mainly pieces for everyday use such as plates, cups, glasses, spoons and more!

LUCINA, BETY & MIMI

Meet Luci, Bety and Mimi (from left to right) they are originally from Atzompa, and relatives of the Blanco family generation. Their crafts are unmatched, creating pieces so majestic that they can leave one speechless. They can create anything from a decorative piece as small as a cross or heart, to vases or pots over a meter high! Simply incomparable.

ESTHER REAL & HER TEAM

It is always a pleasure to come to Esther's workshop and see her entire team making black clay pieces. Without a doubt, she has managed to keep the technique alive and pass it on from generation to generation to her entire family. Nowadays, she and her family create hundreds of different pieces and models of traditional black clay from San Bartolo, Oaxaca.

ÁNGELA MENDOZA

All of our Jalieza textiles and table runners wouldn't be possible without Ángela's work. The whole Jalieza community is known for creating these backstrap woven crafts, but with Ángela, we have a great connection and we always try to create new combinations of colors or figures.

ELIZABETH LÓPEZ

Meet Elizbeth, originally from Atzompa, who is also known for her embroidered clay creations. She traditionally makes figures for home decoration, such as Oaxacan dolls, mermaids, and also flower vases. Her crafts have helped her feel connected to her roots and the legacy her mother left her.

ELENA LÓPEZ

Meet Elena (Elizabeth's sister). She has told us that without a doubt the best gift she received from her mother was having inherited her creativity to make these clay crafts. She is proud of her work and has worked hard to make her family like it and learn from it so that this tradition is not lost.
